Extension of time limit for final exam(ination)
If difficulties arise during the processing period that you could not have foreseen and that are not your own fault, you can apply for an extension or withdraw from the work. It is important that you submit this application immediately when the delay occurs. This will also give you the assurance that your application will be processed before the processing deadline expires.
- Extension of deadline for health reasons
For an extension for health reasons, have your doctor fill out this form. A certificate of incapacity for work is not sufficient for this purpose. As a rule, the processing time will be extended by the period of examination incapacity determined by the doctor.
- Extension of deadline for special reasons
Special circumstances often require special solutions; here, too, you can apply for an extension of the deadline. Such special reasons/situations include, for example, the care and supervision of children and close relatives in the event of illness, as well as unforeseeable and serious events (force majeure), etc.. In such cases, please contact the examination office directly and immediately and submit this form.
- Extension of deadline for substantive reasons
Please first discuss an extension for content-related reasons with your supervisor and then apply for it at the examination office. Please fill out this form and have it signed by your supervisor.
Please note that in all of the above cases you must submit your renewal application without delay. Jurisprudence applies a very strict standard to immediacy: If it was possible for the examinee to contact a doctor, then it is also possible for the examinee to contact the university (examination office) immediately (please only by email), at least to briefly state the problem.
Please note that if you do not inform us immediately (at least by e-mail) about your inability to take the examination, we may have to reject your request for an extension.
Your application for an extension can only be processed in the examination office once the corresponding form has been submitted. You will then be informed of the decision on your application by e-mail and the processing period stored in the examination management will be adjusted if necessary.
An extension can also be applied for several times in the case of persistent or new problems and is possible up to a maximum of twice the planned processing period.
